Nurturing Healthy Smiles from the Very First Tooth

Since 2008, Affinity Dental Clinics has been a trusted name in family dental care, offering a full range of services from simple check-ups to highly specialized procedures. Among our most important commitments is to Pediatric Dentistry—helping children grow up with healthy, strong teeth and a lifetime of positive dental experiences.

Children are not just small adults. They require a different approach—one that combines clinical skill with compassion, patience, and a special kind of attentiveness. At Affinity Dental Clinics, we provide a safe, warm, and supportive environment where children feel comfortable, and parents feel confident in the care their child receives.

Who We Treat: Dental Care for Children 18 and Below

We provide dental care for children from infancy up to 18 years old. Whether it’s your child’s very first dental visit or a return for routine maintenance, our goal is to make every appointment a gentle, productive experience.

Our general dentists are trained and experienced in managing pediatric patients and can perform most basic dental services, including:

• Dental exams and routine check-ups
• Teeth cleaning and topical fluoride application
• Tooth-colored composite fillings
• Simple tooth extractions
• Dental sealants to prevent cavities
• Oral hygiene instruction and education

As long as the child is calm, cooperative, and able to tolerate treatment in the chair, we can safely and effectively provide care within our general dental clinics.

When We Refer to a Pediatric Dental Specialist

We understand that not every child is the same. Some may have heightened dental anxiety, behavioral challenges, or underlying medical or developmental conditions that make it difficult to complete treatment under normal circumstances.

In such cases, our general dentists may recommend a referral to one of our Pediatric Dental Specialists—licensed dentists with formal training in pediatric behavior management and hospital dentistry. Referral cases may include:

• Children with special healthcare needs (medical or developmental)
• Very young children (toddlers or preschoolers) who are uncooperative
• Children with severe dental anxiety or trauma
• Complex cases requiring oral sedation, general anesthesia, or hospital-based care

We believe in matching the right patient with the right provider in the right environment—ensuring that every child receives safe and appropriate care without trauma or force.

The Importance of Early Pediatric Dental Care

Good dental health starts early. Primary (baby) teeth may seem temporary, but they play a crucial role in your child’s development. They aid in proper chewing, speech formation, jaw development, and guide the eruption of permanent teeth.

Untreated dental problems in childhood can lead to:

• Early tooth loss
• Pain and infection
• Difficulty eating and speaking
• Malocclusion (misaligned bite)
• Fear of future dental visits

That’s why the Philippine Pediatric Dental Society and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommend that children have their first dental visit by age one or when the first tooth erupts—whichever comes first. Regular visits every six months are ideal to monitor growth, reinforce hygiene habits, and detect problems early.

Common Pediatric Dental Procedures at Affinity Dental Clinics

We offer a comprehensive set of services designed to prevent problems and treat them gently when they arise. These include:

1. Age One Dental Visit

Your child’s first dental appointment is a milestone. We focus on parent education, oral development, and forming positive associations with the dental chair.

3. Tooth-Colored Fillings

If your child develops a cavity, we use durable composite resin fillings that match their natural teeth, avoiding metal restorations.

4. Pediatric Extractions

When necessary, we perform gentle extractions of primary teeth—whether due to infection, over-retention, or preparation for orthodontics.

5. Stainless Steel Crowns

For larger cavities in baby molars, stainless steel crowns provide a long-lasting, cost-effective restoration that maintains chewing function.

6. Oral Hygiene Instruction

We teach both parents and children proper brushing, flossing, and healthy eating habits for lifelong oral health.

A Child-Friendly Environment

Our clinics are designed with both children and parents in mind. Clean, spacious, and calming, our treatment areas are equipped with:

• Comfortable chairs with individual entertainment screens
• Kid-friendly interiors and themed pediatric suites (in select branches)
• Intraoral cameras so parents can see what the dentist sees
• Gentle lighting and private rooms for privacy and ease

We prioritize a calm, non-threatening approach. Our dentists speak in a child-appropriate language, use tell-show-do techniques, and always prioritize comfort and consent.

A Gentle Option for Anxious Children: Twilight Sedation

For children undergoing complex procedures—or those with severe anxiety—Twilight Sedation is available at selected Affinity Dental Clinics, administered by board-certified anesthesiologists.

This safe and controlled form of conscious sedation allows children to remain relaxed and unaware during the procedure while still breathing on their own. It’s a helpful option for:

• Multiple tooth extractions
• Extensive fillings or crowns
• Children with previous traumatic dental experiences

Twilight Sedation ensures that dental care is not delayed and can be completed safely in a single visit, when indicated.
