Saving Natural Teeth, Preserving Smiles

At Affinity Dental Clinics, we believe that every tooth matters. Behind every tooth is a story, a memory, a smile worth preserving. That’s why one of the most important services we offer in the Philippines is Endodontics—the branch of dentistry focused on saving teeth that would otherwise be lost due to infection or trauma.

Whether it’s a persistent toothache, a cracked tooth, or a deep cavity, endodontic treatment allows us to treat the inside of the tooth, stop the pain, eliminate infection, and help you keep your natural tooth structure for as long as possible.

What Is Endodontics?

Endodontics comes from the Greek words endo (inside) and odont (tooth). It deals with the health of the dental pulp—the living tissue inside the tooth made up of nerves and blood vessels.

When the pulp becomes infected or inflamed due to decay, repeated procedures, cracks, or trauma, endodontic treatment—most commonly a Root Canal Treatment—is required to save the tooth.

The goal of endodontic care is simple: Remove the infection, relieve the pain, and preserve the natural tooth.

Why Saving Teeth Matters

There is no substitute for a natural tooth. While modern prosthodontics offers impressive replacements like crowns, bridges, and implants, nothing matches the structure, feel, and function of your own teeth.

Endodontic treatment:

• Preserves your natural bite and chewing function
• Maintains jawbone integrity (avoiding bone loss)
• Prevents shifting of nearby teeth
• Saves you from more extensive and expensive treatments later on

At Affinity Dental Clinics, saving your tooth is always our first priority—and Endodontics gives us the tools to do just that.

Our Endodontic Services

We offer a full range of endodontic procedures across our branches in Makati, BGC, Alabang, Ortigas, Parañaque, and Cebu, all performed with the utmost care, precision, and comfort.

Root Canal Treatment

This is the most common endodontic procedure and the one most people associate with the term. In a root canal treatment, we:
1. Remove the infected or inflamed pulp
2. Clean and disinfect the root canals
3. Fill and seal the space with a biocompatible material
4. Restore the tooth with a crown for protection

With modern anesthesia, digital imaging, and high-quality instruments, root canal treatment today is safe, effective, and virtually painless—a far cry from the reputation it had decades ago.

Post and Core

Sometimes, a tooth may be too structurally compromised after a root canal to support a crown on its own. In these cases, we insert a post into the root canal and build a core to reinforce the tooth. This ensures that your crown has a strong and stable foundation.

Apicoectomy (Root-End Surgery)

In some cases, a root canal treatment alone is not enough. If infection persists or returns after standard treatment, we may recommend an apicoectomy, a minor surgical procedure where we remove the tip of the root and seal it to prevent further issues.

This is typically done only when necessary, and always after thorough assessment by our dental team.

Advanced Technology, Gentle Approach

At Affinity Dental Clinics, our approach to Endodontics is a blend of clinical expertise and compassionate care.

We are equipped with state-of-the-art technology such as:

• Red, swollen, or tender gums
• Gums that bleed during brushing or flossing
• Digital X-rays for low-radiation, high-resolution imaging
• Cone Beam CT Scans for 3D visualization of complex root anatomy
• Electric rotary endodontic files for precise canal cleaning
• High magnification loupes for enhanced visibility

These tools allow us to perform endodontic procedures more safely, quickly, and accurately, which means less chair time and faster recovery for you.

Endodontics as a Foundation for Restorative Dentistry

Endodontics is not a stand-alone service—it’s a critical foundation for many restorative procedures.

A tooth that has undergone a root canal often needs a dental crown to protect and restore function. In fact, our seamless integration between endodontic and prosthodontic services is one of our strengths at Affinity Dental Clinics.

Thanks to our in-house dental laboratory, we can fabricate high-quality crowns quickly and accurately—often using materials like Zirconia for superior strength and esthetics.

No two root canals are exactly the same. That’s why at Affinity Dental Clinics, we treat each case with individualized attention.
