9 Braces Hacks: A Cheat Sheet for Choosing Colored Braces
Getting braces is a long-term commitment. You could be committed to taking care of your braces for a year or more. But it doesn’t have to be boring: colored braces are all the rage right now.

1. Ask which colors are available.
Most clinics will have a color wheel so you can choose which colors are available. It’s good to ask in advance so you can plan your brace colors beforehand.

2. Compliment your natural skin color.
Picking colors that go well with your natural skin or hair color can enhance your smile.
For darker skin tones, gold, orange, green, pink, or blue colors like dark blue, turqoise, violet will look great. For lighter skin tones, Lighter shades of blues, reds and pinks as well as darker shades of purple will work.

3. Review your wardrobe.
Your colored braces can be a fashionable accessory if you want to! Does your wardrobe have similar colors? You should consider complimenting the colors of your wardrobe with your colored braces.
If you have a wardrobe full of neutral tones, choosing a vibrant color could give you more personality. Inversely, having a wardrobe full of bright colors could influence you in choosing neutral colors. If you have a wardrobe full of primary colors, choosing other primary colors will compliment you perfectly.
4. Factor your color
Darker colors can make your teeth look whiter. On the other hand, lighter colors can make your teeth look more yellow.
5. Compliment your eye color.
If your eyes are your main asset, you should consider picking colors that compliment your eyes.

6. Show school spirit!
Do you want to show your school pride? Matching your brace colors with your school’s colors is a surefire way to show school spirit, especially during the NCAA and UAAP playoffs.
7. Support your favorite sports team.
On a larger scale, if you support a sports team at certain seasons, choosing colors that represent them could be a great idea. You could get red braces if you support Manchester United or gold for the Golden State Warriors.
8. Wear Filipino colors.
If you want to show your Filipino pride, choosing colors that reflect the nation’s colors is a great idea.
9. Avoid these colors.
However, here are some colors to avoid:
Black, green or brown could be mistaken as food or rotting teeth. On the other hand, if you have yellowish teeth, white and yellow can intensify the color.
