What’s The Reason Behind Morning Breath?
Morning breath, or bad breath when we wake up in the morning, is a normal occurrence for most people.
Certain individuals struggle with bad breath, and may even be a detriment to their social skills. Knowing the causes and how to prevent it may be a huge boost in their confidence.
Why do we get morning breath?
When we are awake, our saliva helps break down bacteria which usually prevents us from having bad breath in the middle of the day, without eating or drinking anything harmful. However, when we sleep, our mouths turn dry, which lets bacteria spread. The lack of saliva as we sleep is a big contributor to why we wake up with morning breath.
Simply put, it’s a normal body occurrence which happens to most of us. There’s certainly no need to worry, specially when you practice a twice-a-day brushing regimen — one when you wake up, and one before sleeping.
Some, though, would still prefer to get rid of morning breath entirely, or reduce it to a bare minimum.
What can I do to minimize morning breath?
Three important routines must be internalized for anyone who wishes to get rid of morning breath:
1.Brushing and flossing are both integral to good dental health.
2. Tongue scraping, on the other hand, should be another procedure that may be incorporated in daily dental health regimens. Scraping the tongue removes the daily build-up, which may otherwise cause bacteria to spread and cause bad breath.
3. Watching your food intake will likewise go a long way towards preventing morning breath, and even bad breath in general. Garlic and onions, and even spices like chili and curry are the stereotypical bad breath agents. This is why most people avoid garlicky or spicy food for dinner, because it causes bad breath the following day.
