The Lady Who Finally Smiled with Dental Veneers

Starter 1Dak Escay is a beautiful lady, graceful in manner, vibrant and smart. She has a charming family, impressive career achievements, and a fulfilling job as the AVP for Human Resources at a radio broadcasting network. Everything in her life seemed pretty rosy, apart from the fact that she rarely smiled.

The problem: Tetracycline Stains

A friend of hers noticed this from the pictures that she would post on Facebook. Photo after photo showed Dak wearing a too-formal expression, her lips drawn together in a line. Her natural friendliness and warm personality did not shine through the pictures, so her friend got curious. “Why weren’t you smiling in the photos?” her friend asked, concerned that people might think she’s a snob or ill-tempered.

Dak confessed that she was not happy with her smile because her teeth were stained yellow from the tetracycline (a kind of antibiotic) that she took in the past. This kind of permanent staining is difficult to treat because the discoloration affects the dentin, or the layer beneath the tooth enamel. It has been quite a challenge for Dak, given her post as AVP for HR because she needed to face people almost every day and a wide, bright smile would be a huge part of that task!

The Solution: Dental Veneers

Fortunately, Dak found us through her friend and she was well on her way towards the solution that would affect her life in a positive way. We recommended a process that solved her problem and inspired her to become more confident in the way that she conducted herself in front of other people.

“I am more comfortable,” she shared, “and the personal satisfaction is also great.” In the beginning, her friends and officemates were wondering what  changed in her. Even her own family was excited about the procedure.

Dr. Maria Ana Maglutac, one of our senior dentist in Affinity Dental Clinics (BGC), explains that Dak Escay had Indirect Veneers/Laminates placed on her tetracycline-stained front teeth. These are laboratory-made using porcelain. “There is more detail that goes into this process and maximum aesthetics can be obtained,” says Dr. Maglutac.

According to Dak, it was a painless—though tedious—procedure. It took a few weeks to finish all the color matching, taking of impressions, teeth preparation, and the actual dental work. Dak was specifically happy about Dr. Maglutac’s light hand. “I have been recommending Affinity Dental Clinics to my friends,” she says. “Staff members are so efficient, they offer great service, and they have high-tech equipment… even the atmosphere—it’s very relaxing and not intimidating. The ambience is good, it is really nicely done!”

Breaker 2

Aside from this particular procedure, we at Affinity Dental Clinics offer a complete range of dental services. In Dak’s own words, it’s a “one-stop shop” for everything teeth-related. She enumerates, “Affinity Dental Clinics can do implants, x-rays and other dental procedures. You can have everything done there, and that’s good value for money—you’re paying for the expertise, excellent service and professionalism!”

The result: A whiter and happier smile.

More than a year after she had her veneers, Dak’s smile is white and radiant. The teeth structure and the color look very natural. The only thing Dak is concerned about is discoloration but with the veneers, her teeth are as naturally-white as when she first had the veneers. There are no special maintenance procedures to follow. “I just have my regular cleaning every six months, that’s it.” Although she is, by nature, quite reserved, Dak Escay is definitely smiling more these days.
