Get Fresh Breath: 5 Simple Tips To Eliminate Bad Breath

If you’re struggling with bad breath, here are some tips to keep the foulness at bay:

Identify the cause of bad breath

First thing to do is to identify the cause of your bad breath.

Halitosis, more commonly known as bad breath, is mainly caused by poor oral hygiene. It can also be caused by food stuck in your teeth or gum diseases.

Bad breath may also be caused by medical infection, diabetes or kidney failure. It can also be caused by postnasal drip.

Other causes include food intake. The smell of spices such as onion, chili or garlic tends to linger in the mouth even hours after eating.

Another cause of bad breath is lack of food intake. It is common to retain your “morning breath” even after brushing your teeth if you don’t eat breakfast.

An obvious cause for bead breath is smoking or chewing tobacco. Smoking makes the mouth dry and leaves smoke particles in the mouth.

Now after determining the cause, follow these tips in order to have fresher breath:

1. Brush your teeth

In order to prevent halitosis, regularly brush your teeth with fluoride tooth paste. Keep those pearly whites healthy to prevent mouth problems that can cause bad breath.

2. Scrape your tongue

You should also scrape your tongue to remove residue that reside between the taste buds.

3. Balance of diet

You should also have a balanced and regular diet. Don’t eat too much spicy food or coffee as the smell can linger on for hours on end. Don’t skip meals if you can help it. Eating encourages the secretion of saliva and it keeps bad breath away.

4. Stop smoking

Stop smoking. It causes your mouth to dry and helps bacteria to thrive in your mouth not including the various dangerous chemicals that come along with it. It will be good for your breath and your health.

5. Get hydrated

Be sure to drink sufficient amount of water, a dry mouth is a feast for bacteria.  Visit your dentist regularly for checkups. If you’re doing great on your oral hygiene and you still smell bad breath then a dentist can determine the cause of that notorious smell.
