The Academy of General Dentistry estimates that 35 to 45 percent of people around the world have some level of halitosis or bad breath. If you want to cure your halitosis, the question that you must ask first is what causes your bad breath? 

Most of you probably don’t know that there is a classification system that define all types of halitosis or bad breath.

Genuine Halitosis

Bad breath that originates from the mouth such as cavities, gum disease, bacterial imbalance on the tongue, impacted wisdom teeth, etc.

Intra-Oral Halitosis

A type of bad breath that is emitted from the oral cavity. This includes post nasal drip, tonsil stones, bacterial imbalance in the back of throat, retro-nasal mucosa. There are also those that originate from the digestive tract. A such as those caused by chronic gastritis, hiatal hernia, stomach and duodenal ulcers, lazy colon syndrome, which are from the digestive tract.

Blood Borne Halitosis

Halitophobia

Also called Delusional Bad Breath which is a psychological condition where a patient believes he or she suffers from breath odor when there is none.
